Rolling hills, fast fowing rivers, busy towns and bonne villages.  Put these together with towers and castles straight out of a Disney movie and you have one of Scotland's best kept secrets - Clackmannanshire.

Clackmannan is Scotland in miniture - magnificent scenery, a turbulent history and welcoming people.

Set in the very heart of Scotland, with the stunning Ochil Hills as its backdrop, Clackmannanshire has a lot to offer visitors and residents alike.  The best way to understand the place is to visit it. 

There are a wide range of activities within Alva and in the surrounding area.

Hill Walking
The Ochil Hills stretch for 20 miles and rise to over 2,300 feet with views as far as The Forth Bridges, The Cairngorms and Fife.

There is a dry ski slope in nearby Tillicoultry, providing recreational skiing, instructional classes; holiday ski school, ski hire and repair service available.
 
Shopping
For those who need retail therapy, the nearest high street stores are in Stirling. The local shops of Alva are a 5 minute walk away and the new designer outlet village at Sterling Mills is located 5 minutes away by road in Tillicoultry. Cycling / Walking
This area has some of the best hill walking and cycling routes in Scotland.
